“When men are full of envy, they disparage everything, whether it be good or bad” -Publius Cornelius Tacitus

The story is about Edmond Dantès, an uneducated, yet well-liked young sailor of nineteen, who is the victim of two envious rivals : Danglars and Fernard.
Being a successful sailor as he was, Dantès was about to be positioned as Captain, which made Danglars resent him even more.
Adding to that, Dantès was about to marry the beautiful Catalan Mercedès, who Fernard was in love with.
Consequently, the two devils conspire against Dantès to have him imprisoned, and unfortunately succeed in their conspiracy.

How will poor Dantès face this unworthy destiny? What will become of him?
You MUST read this novel to know! You won't regret it I promise.
